Know the types of teleconferencing
Teleconference (teleconference) is a live-based electronic meeting or conversation (live) among three or more human or machine participants who are connected with a telecommunications system.
Currently there are three types of teleconferencing that are often used, both for business purposes and social activities, namely:
1. Audio Conference (Conference Call)
Audio Conference or also called conference call is a conversation of two or more participants using telephone facilities where the communication that occurs between participants is only in the form of audio (audio).
Of all types of teleconferencing, Conference Call is most popular because it has the following advantages:
- Participants only need to use a normal telephone to conduct teleconferences without additional tools or software.
- Can be used anytime and anywhere without the need to configure the device to be used.
- Without the need for a fast internet connection. Because this conference call service uses telephone lines, you don't need to have a fast internet connection.
- To make a conference call, participants are required to call a specific number that will connect them to the conference bridge (special equipment that connects incoming telephone lines into one) provided by the conference call provider. Usually there are additional costs imposed by the conference call provider for its users.
Zoom.id is currently one of the conference call providers in Indonesia, and unlike other providers, users can use teleconferencing facilities without the need to make a reservation / booking. Enough with just one registration, you can use a PIN code that can be used multiple times. We also have a basic package / free package where we do not charge anything for the use of our conference bridge. This basic package is limited to 5 participants and a maximum of 1 hour per conference. For more needs, we hope you can subscribe to other premium packages.
2. Video Conference
Video conferencing is a communication technology that allows communication from several different locations that can simultaneously transmit video images and sounds.
To conduct video conferencing one can utilize IP network technology (via the internet) and ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) technology.
Although video conferencing has the advantage of having a visual display (video), the use of teleconferencing facilities is still less popular in Indonesia due to the following:
Special devices are needed such as video input (video camera or webcam) and video output (monitor), audio input (microphone) and audio output (speaker) as well as data transfer facilities (ISDN, LAN or Internet telephone network)
The cost is relatively expensive
Today video conferencing is more widely used by television media and large-scale companies. In addition to video conferencing that requires special devices, there is also a video conferencing service that only requires a computer / laptop. These types of video conferencing can also be called Cloud Video Conferencing or Cloud Meeting. Why is it called cloud / cloud computing? Because, only with a regular laptop / computer and a good internet connection, you can do video conferencing.
3. Web Conference
Web conferencing or also called webinars is an interactive teleconferencing facility that offers a more complete data stream feature where participants can communicate simultaneously using text, sound, video to share files (file sharing) or do slide presentations.
To run a web conference usually uses a special application (software) provided by the web conference provider by way of subscription, and utilizes internet technology, especially TCP / IP connection.
In contrast to video conferencing, to conduct a web conference simply use a computer device equipped with adequate multimedia devices such as a webcam, microphone and speaker, and an internet connection.
With more features, web conference tools are simpler than ordinary video conferencing.
Web conferencing is widely used for activities such as seminars or online workshops.
